About Shannon
Shannon Hutchinson is the quintessential renaissance woman, her experience spans the disciplines of art and aviation. She also has a name that is synonymous with holistic health and wellness, beauty and Carnival.

Shannon’s passion for Art and Aviation developed simultaneously. As a pilot’s daughter, she developed a love for flying as she grew up in the cockpit, and as she traveled and experienced new cultures and their crafts her talent in the arts was discovered and nurtured.

By the time she was 20 years old, she was already a fully certified commercial pilot. With no flying jobs available, Shannon returned to Canada where she studied Fine Art at OCAD University, completing her BFA in Florence Italy, and specialized in drawing and painting.

Her appreciation of classical approaches to painting was cultivated in Italy, but it is a Masters Painting course with the world renowned British Artist Peter Doig, who now resides in her native country of Trinidad and Tobago, that Shannon cites as the genesis of her decade long aviation inspired art series.

Shannon is known for her glossy seascapes that are heavily influenced by her career as a pilot. She makes her own paints and uses old Jeppesen airways (aviation) maps as the base of much of her work, which gives them a unique almost glassy texture. Her work is housed around the world in both public and private collections.

This award winning artist was discovered as a teenager and has been in upwards of fifty group exhibitions, and has held solo exhibitions in Trinidad, Canada and Italy. Her long awaited solo show can be seen at The Horizons Art Gallery on April 20th, 2017.
