About

Acclaimed Trinidadian artist and pilot Shannon Hutchinson is set to captivate art enthusiasts with her latest exhibition, “River of Dreams,” showcasing a stunning collection of new works that explore the interplay of light, nature, colour and emotion.

Hutchinson is a true polymath. This Renaissance woman has successful careers in both art and aviation. She also has a legitimate claim to the titles author, entrepreneur, philanthropist, travel pro, holistic health, wellness and beauty guru, and Carnival icon.

Shannon is known for her evocative landscapes and ethereal depictions of the natural world, combines her unique perspective as both an artist and aviator to create works that transport viewers to a realm where the boundaries between earth and sky blur. This new collection, “River of Dreams,” continues her exploration of these themes, with pieces that range from serene seascapes to dynamic skies, each painting a reflection of her experiences and emotions, with some pieces giving a nod to the spiritual, and local folklore.

Born and raised in Trinidad, Hutchinson’s journey as an artist is as diverse as her subject matter. She is a graduate of OCAD University in Toronto, where she earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts with a focus on Art History and Advanced Visual Studies. She has earned several scholarships and prestigious awards for innovation in her thesis work in Florence, Italy. Her background as an airline pilot also informs her artistic vision, allowing her to bring a unique aerial perspective to her canvases.

Hutchinson’s previous solo exhibitions, including “Dreamscapes,” “Weathering The Storm,” and “Chasing the Light,” have received widespread acclaim, establishing her as a significant figure in the Caribbean art scene. Her works are featured in several prestigious shows and collections, including an exhibition at the National Gallery of Trinidad and Tobago, in the Hart House Permanent Collection, and private collections across the globe.

“River of Dreams” will be on display at Horizon’s Art Gallery, Port of Spain, Trinidad. The exhibition will run from the 3rd – 14th of September 2024. Art lovers are invited to experience Hutchinson’s latest creations, which promise to offer a profound and reflective journey through her dreams and memories of the Caribbean and her world of aviation.
